Summit House needs your help NOW!                                

Due to severe budget constraints, Summit House is at risk of losing all funding from the state of North Carolina.  The proposed budget cuts will directly and negatively impact the lives of the mothers and children that Summit House serves.  The Senate budget is due MAY 2010 so we must act quickly.


This is what you can do to help:

Call or email  your legislators NOW and ask them to continue funding Summit House. It is important that they hear from their constituents.  You might say something like this:

"Please do not cut funding to Summit House. Mothers with small children that go to prison, end up going back over and over again and creating the same life sentence for their children. The cycle never stops. These mothers need rehabilitation and they need to care for their children.
 
When you cut programs like Summit House, you end up needing to build more prisons because the recidivism rate just keeps going up. Where are the savings? I urge you to keep Summit House in the budget."
